It is about Muscle Contractions too!
It's about muscle contractions too! Weight lifting when performed slowly, increases the load of the exercise. A slower muscle movement, while the muscle is under tension, recruits our slow muscle fibers. Essentially the slower speed recruits more motor neurons to experience and perform the exercise, in comparison to a fast movement such as running, where less motor neurons are required to perform a fast movement. So weight lifting at a slower rate (essentially lifting heavier would be make more sense) helps contract more muscle fibres! So remener to keep the movement slow and controlled in your strength training workout to stimulate the slow twitch muscle fibers.
